Simucube 3: Sport, Pro and Ultimate — Next-Generation Direct Drive Arrives
Simucube has just unveiled the third generation of its direct drive wheel bases. The SC3 brings a new wireless connectivity platform, a brand-new motor type on the Ultimate, and a ground-up software rewrite. Three versions — Sport, Pro, and Ultimate — cover the full spectrum from serious enthusiast to professional driver.
LightBridge and Simucube Link: the end of Quick Release cables
The most visible change in the SC3 is the Simucube Link platform. The Quick Release is completely rethought with LightBridge technology, which transfers power and data in a fully contactless way. No more cables to manage when swapping wheels, zero mechanical wear on contacts, and an instant connection every time. The harmonic polygon shape of the QR also ensures zero torsional play under load, even at 35 Nm.
The base itself moves from USB to Ethernet via a centralised Link Hub, improving connection stability and paving the way for a fully integrated peripheral ecosystem.
Three bases for three driver profiles
The SC3 Sport (15 Nm, ~€1,200) is the entry point of the SC3 lineup. It loses 2 Nm compared to the SC2 Sport, but Simucube highlights a completely rewritten control algorithm that more than compensates in output quality: quieter operation, more linear torque curve, and individual factory calibration.
The SC3 Pro (25 Nm, ~€1,500) maintains the same torque as the SC2 Pro while benefiting from all the platform improvements. It's the safe bet of the lineup — the one most competitive sim racers will use day-to-day.
The SC3 Ultimate (35 Nm, ~€3,200) is the flagship. It adopts an IPM (internal permanent magnet) motor instead of the SPM used in previous versions, giving it superior efficiency, faster torque response, and even quieter operation. Availability is expected during 2026.
Simucube Tuner 3.0: in-session adjustments
The software is equally transformed. Simucube Tuner 3.0 introduces the ability to adjust torque, damping, and feel mid-session, without leaving the game. Telemetry effects are also expanded — road texture, ABS, engine vibration — for an even more faithful reproduction of simulator physics.
The Simucube 3 is a meaningful evolution, not just an update. LightBridge definitively solves the cable problem in quick releases, Tuner 3.0 addresses one of the last remaining software gaps, and the Ultimate with its IPM motor puts Simucube a clear step above anything else on the consumer market. For SC2 Sport users, the upgrade is less obvious — torque drops by 2 Nm — but the qualitative improvement in feel justifies the investment for those chasing perfection.
